    Summary

    Collect, compile, record employee time and process payroll data. Process existing employees’ job transfers. Process and reconcile child support and tax withholding payments. Audit and prepare annual W-2’s. Prepares and files weekly Union Steward Reports. Prepares and remits monthly union fringe reporting and payments.

    Essential Functions

    • Analyzes, prepares, and inputs payroll data (weekly and in the event of lay-offs or make-up checks, could be daily). Typically uses automated system to produce accurate and timely payroll. Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
    • Assists in preparing and filing weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports (i.e. tax deductions, steward reports, garnishments, union fringe reporting, etc.)
    • Maintains current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
    • Remains current on payroll systems to achieve alignment with other departments.
    • Respond to written employment verification requests in a timely manner.
    • Maintains electronic filing database for employee files.
    • Assists in auditing, preparing, editing, and distributing annual W-2’s.
    • Answers employee payroll inquiries in a friendly and professional manner.
    • Support all internal and external audits related to payroll information.
    • Assists in maintaining onboarding packets to include most current tax forms.
    • Process union rate and fringe benefit updates when required.
    • Ensures confidentiality of employee records is maintained.
    • Serves as phone back up in receptionist’s absence on weekly basis.
    • Other duties as assigned by management.

    Required Education and Experience

    • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school or one or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • At least 1 year of experience with payroll systems, processes, and related software programs is desired.
    • Previous experience with union fringe reporting is helpful but not necessary.
    • PENTA ERP system experience is a plus.
    • HeavyJobs Time entry system experience is a plus.

    Preferred Education and Experience

    • Related work experience with in-house payroll systems and processes.
    • Work experience in a union environment

    Inspect, repair, and maintain company equipment, including but not limited to, light trucks, heavy trucks, and heavy equipment to ensure the company’s smooth operation of projects.

    Essential Functions

    • Ensure proficiency in mechanics and maintenance, managing inventory control on the service trucks, and maintain the inventory of supplied tools for the work required in maintaining trucks and associated equipment.
    • Repair and maintain equipment to the standards set by state DOT for motor vehicle inspections and safety standards.
    • Operate and inspect trucks, machines, or heavy equipment in order to diagnose defects.
    • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
    • Repair and replace damaged or worn equipment parts for diesel engines, transmissions, vehicle suspensions, and braking systems.
    • Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
    • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
    • Installation of GPS and other associated electrical equipment.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position has no supervisory responsibility.

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of 50 to 100 pounds.

    The employee is required to work in an indoor and outdoor environment.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position.  Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday from 7:00 A.M. until 3:30 P.M.  Evening and other weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

    Minimal travel, if any, is required for this role.

    Required Education and Experience

    • High School diploma, GED equivalent
    • Valid Driver’s License

    Preferred Education and Experience

    • Associate degree in automotive repair, Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technology, or other related fields.
    • CDL
    • New York State Light and Heavy Motor Vehicle Inspector Card
    • AC Certification
    • 2+ years of maintenance experience
    • 4+ years of diesel maintenance experience

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications

    • Possess a thorough understanding of passenger vehicle gas and diesel engines.
    • Possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, set goals, accomplish responsibilities, and meet deadlines with limited supervision.
    • Ability to adapt to abrupt changes in the work environment while managing competing demands, dealing with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
